Just a Trip Around the Sun!

If you visited our early posts you will have seen, in all our floral, bright colored, grass skirtness, that Mike and I are Jimmy Buffett fans. So I was listening to Margaritaville.com radio the other day and one of my favorite songs came on, "Trip Around the Sun". I traditionally have been a worry wort but last year I read "Stop Worrying and Start Living" By Dale Carnegie. I truly believe this book changed my life - I live a more worry free life, sleep better, learned to let things happen; float along with the river instead of trying to swim upstream. I also feel it strengthened my faith in just letting God do His work in my life, instead of me trying to do His work. (Yes, I'm making a connection between God, Dale Carnegie and Jimmy Buffett!) So, about the same time I printed the words to "Trip Around the Sun" and put it on my bulletin board at work, highlighting certain lines about letting go and just enjoy the trip around the sun. So that's my theme for "The Wait"; it's only one trip around the sun until I see the sun of our lives - Mia Jade. This "wait" time period is not a curse - it is time meant to be well spent!

If you don't know the words it check out (it's better with the music! Found on the License to Chill album):

Here I'm singin' happy birthday
Better think about the about the wish I make
This year gone by ain'’t been a piece of cake
Everyday’s a revolution
Pull it together and it comes undone
Just one more candle and a trip around the sun

CHORUS

I'm just hangin’ on while this old world keeps spinning
And it’s good to know it's out of my control
If there’s one thing that I'’ve learned from all this livin'
Is that it wouldn’t change a thing if I let go

No you never see it comin'
Always wind up wonderin' where it went
Only time will tell if it was time well spent
It's another revelation
Celebrating what I should have done
With these souvenirs of my trip around the sun

Hey Kelly!
Interesting connection you made! I like your attitude and I've been trying to keep that same view on this yucky wait. On the one hand, I'd love to whiz past this next year (or so), but at the same time, do I really want to miss out on all God has planned for me during this time?? Nah...

Keep up the attitude, Kelly. Lift the spirits of others instead of letting them pull you down. You have always been my sunshine; and you will have your own sunshine after that trip around the sun
(literally - around the sun to China)!
